Why OzCal

Tracking that feels effortless

A distraction-free tracker built for how Australians actually eat. The label says kJ, so does OzCal.

Snap it

Photo scan, matched to real Australian foods

Point your camera at a meal. AI proposes what it sees, then OzCal matches each item to the verified Australian database and shows you the confidence and a one-tap portion slider. Never a raw AI guess. Three scans a day are free; Pro is unlimited.

Say it

Voice logging

"I had a chicken burrito and a Coke." Say it once and OzCal turns it into logged foods from the verified database, in kilojoules, ready to adjust or confirm.

Kilojoules, the way the label shows them

Every Australian label and menu board is in kJ, so OzCal is kJ first. Calories are one tap away if you think in them. The numbers in the app match the numbers on the pack.

Barcode scan, free forever

Unlimited barcode scanning on the free plan, with no ads, ever. Every product shows its nutrition per serve and per 100 g, so you can compare before it goes in the trolley.

Progress that doesn't shame you

Your week shows days logged, protein hits and a metabolism-learning meter that gets smarter over 14 days. Streaks count logged days, not under-budget days. A missed day pauses the streak, nothing turns red, and streak repair is never for sale.

Your data is yours

Export your data any time and delete your account in the app, no email required. We never sell your information and we never show ads.

Apple Health

Your movement adjusts your day, automatically

OzCal reads your steps and active energy from Apple Health and tops up your daily kJ allowance when you move more, so a big walk means a bigger dinner, calculated for you.

Verified Australian foods

87,735 foods that match the pack

87,735 Australian and New Zealand foods, from FSANZ AUSNUT and Open Food Facts, plus Woolworths, Coles and Aldi own-brands, Hungry Jack's, Guzman y Gomez, Boost and Grill'd. Entries carry a Verified AU badge, and we publish where every number comes from.

✓Verified AU badge on entries checked against the source data
✓Nutrition per serve and per 100 g on every barcode scan
✓Missing a local favourite? Tell us and we add it. Australian coverage is the priority.

How it works

Three taps to on-track

No spreadsheets, no kilojoule maths. OzCal does the heavy lifting.

Set your goal

Tell OzCal your body, activity and goal. It calculates your daily kJ and macro targets using established formulas, instantly, then learns from your real logs over the first 14 days.

Log in seconds

Snap a photo, say what you ate, scan a barcode, or search the verified Australian database. Your kJ ring updates the moment you log.

See it add up, gently

Days logged, protein hits and a metabolism-learning meter. No red numbers, no guilt, no streak anxiety.

FAQ

Good questions

When can I get OzCal?
OzCal is live on the App Store, free on iPhone, iOS 16 and later. Android follows after launch. Questions: email support@ozcal.com.au.
Why kilojoules instead of Calories?
Kilojoules (kJ) are the Australian standard shown on local packaging and menus. OzCal is kJ first so the numbers match what you see in the shops, with Calories one tap away if you prefer them.
Is the barcode scanner really free?
Yes. Barcode scanning is free, unlimited, forever, and the free plan never shows ads.
Is the photo scan just an AI guess?
No. AI proposes what is in the photo, then OzCal matches each item to the verified Australian database and shows the matched entry, its confidence and a portion slider. You get three AI photo or voice logs a day free, reset at midnight. Pro makes them unlimited, at A$14.99 a month or A$89.99 a year with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan.
What are gentle streaks?
Your streak counts days you logged, not days you ate under budget. A missed day pauses it instead of resetting it, going over never turns red, and we never sell streak repair.
Is my data private?
Yes. OzCal follows the Australian Privacy Principles. Your data is stored securely in the Sydney region, Apple Health data is used only inside the app, and we never sell your information. You can export your data any time and delete your account in the app. Read the full Privacy Policy.
Is there anything to cancel?
Only if you subscribe to Pro. OzCal itself is free, with unlimited barcode scanning and three AI logs a day. Pro is A$14.99 a month or A$89.99 a year, auto-renewing, cancellable in two taps (iPhone Settings, then Subscriptions, then OzCal). The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial, and Apple reminds you before it ends.
Is OzCal medical advice?
No. OzCal is a nutrition tracking tool, not a medical device. Targets are general estimates. Always consult a qualified professional before major changes to your diet or health routine.
